Our mission is to create a nurturing and supportive environment where everyone can explore the transformative power of meditation. We believe that meditation is a vital tool for cultivating mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being. By providing personalized guidance, immersive experiences, and a vibrant community, we aim to make meditation accessible and meaningful for all.
1998 — A delegation from Thailand establishes a meditation center in Atlanta, inaugurated by Luang Por Dattajivo as the Atlanta Meditation Center, with the support of founding Kalyanamitra Narong-Ratchakorn Chomphuphut, Senis-Aksornanong Butsayaphongchai, Amporn Gibbs, Thipawan Khemboonlert, and Komet Ammaradit.
2003 — The center relocates to a larger, 13.91-acre property in Roswell, Georgia, and is renamed Wat Bhavana Georgia (Georgia Meditation Center).
2007 — The center moves to its current home at 4522 Tilly Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30360 — a former church on 3.75 acres, with a meditation hall seating up to 200, plus two residence houses for monks and staff (4.2 acres total).
2008 — Recognized as the 53rd affiliated temple under the Council of Thai Bhikkhus in the U.S.A. Later that year, on Dhammakaya Teachers' Day (September 14), the center takes its present name: Wat Phra Dhammakaya Georgia, known today as Georgia Meditation Center.
Today — Georgia Meditation Center continues to serve the Atlanta community as a home for meditation practice, Buddhist teaching, and spiritual growth.
